If it ain't broke don't fix it !!

Just some thoughts...

When i got my n8 last year it came with the original s^3 software and all worked perfectly

I updated to official anna via pc when it was released and had lots of problems

Got a replacement new unit from orange which came with anna factory installed (lucky) and has worked perfectly since

Now we have belle update available !!

So the question is - should we update or not? It seems from forums that people have lots of issues after updates to existing software so is it best to leave your phone untouched with its original clean factory installation?

Does a clean factory install on a new phone work better because of no previous files etc and therefore no corruption issues?

use navifirm. get belle firmware (i recomand UK version). then use phoenix and flash it. simple as that...
and by the way...before the flashing and after the flashing do a hard reset. and format your phone partitions. don't use nokia suite, it's useless... mass storage mode its all u need.

and my opinion about belle : i think its way much better then anna. the phone never hangs, never lags. i don't have to restart it. it works perfectly from my opinion.

Same here.Belle is awsome, not even dare to compare with basic version or Anna, now with belle my N8 is like a new phone, no laggs no freezing, no hangs, etc, no resets to the preset screens, and in one month lots of apps that didn't work initially , now after some apps updates i got almost all apps working back. Good luck and go for belle.
I forgot to say here in Canada we didn't get the official belle update, but with Nokia care suite  4.0 I got it, also my N8 is debranded and unlocked too.

No! Don't update!!

Ha, people suggest you footle your way through Navifirm and reinstall all your apps. Will the Nokia Shop work afterwards if you didn't install Qx or whatever and perform a dance at the crossroads at the full moon? If it's not broken don't fix it, and if it's broken, get an iPhone.

im staying with anna. I did my research and i dont like alot of the changes which make me love this phone so much. And unlike some, i have no problems with my n8, it doesnt freeze or lag or anything and its lightning fast. Its up to u if u want to update or not, not anyone else.

I'm also staying with Anna. My main use other than as a phone is for Geocaching, with the main, and expensive app not being available on Belle; and probably won't.
