Please help - I am at my wits end with this N8 firmware nonsense. I bought two N8's (dark grey and silver) from Nokia Store at Heathrow Terminal 5 back in January 2011. Constant reboots and random restarts were a problem from day one but I managed to limit them by switching off all internet connectivity and related apps and putting the phones into power saving mode meant they only had to be charged once every 5 to 7 days depending on usage. I figured I would tough it out until the update firmware Anna was released as this was promised to solve all the issues. And hey for once an update did what it said and for a couple of weeks I was able to use all the features of the N8 without any restarting issues until the silver one's battery ran flat and when I plugged it in to recharge it never started recharging and has not charged or been able to switch on since. The dark grey one is thankfully still behaving *touch wood* - but silver is bricked and about as useful as a paperweight. I have tried everything to get it restarted - left it on power charge and USB charge for over a week - best I got was the PC's USB sound of connecting when I held in the power button followed shortly thereafter with a disconnect sound. Then I managed to get the little light next to the USB to flash for about 50 to 60 flashes then it went off. Disconnected the mini USB and reconnected it and it flashed again for about 50 or so falshes and then stopped. Tried again and it flashed for less and stopped - now it isn't flashing at all. When I try and flash the firmware with Phoenix I get to a point where it requests that I disconnect the USB, press the power for at least 8 seconds and then reconnect the USB - obviously nothing happens when I do this and flashing fails. I am in South Africa so the UK warranty does not cover the phone and unless I am heading back to Heathrow anytime soon I really can't do anything with the bricked N8 - such a pity as the one that is working is a dream. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Last updated firmware version was 22.14 done via the software update on the phone when prompted and Ovi Store. How can one phone work with the firmware upgrade but the other one not? And how can you use Phoenix to flash a dead phone when it requires some buttons and input from the dead phone - the phone is dead as in brick, nothing works so requests to push buttons from Phoenix are redundant to say the least! Please any help would be appreciated.
