If you have a memory card inserted in the phone, remove it first before you restart the phone. The memory card may be corrupted.

I had this problem only, when I switched on the phone and instantly trying to open phone book or whatever. That seemed to me to overclock the booting phone.
When I switched it on and did nothing für 2-3 minutes, everything works fine.

2 days ago there was an update for Anna through Ovi Suite. Since that I have no problem yet.

So perhaps try to update yout phones?

Good luck!

Yes, one of the reasons that happens is when you try to access programs using the phone's database as the phone is rebooting. Also, the memory card may be corrupted. You can try to remove the memory card first before rebooting the phone. When the phone starts, it also looks for applications on the memory card so it can load them when it boots. Happened to me too and I observed the behavior so I can find the culprit.

The other reason that I could think of that could have contributed to the problem is that when you backed up the data to your memory card, you also backed up the files for the apps that are installed on the phone (phone and mass memory). When you updated (or reformatted), those apps were no longer on the phone but the files for them are. This may contribute to the phone displaying "Phone startup failed."

Wow, great idea. In my case it was the memory card. I removed it, phone started Ok and i put it back in. You saved me from Hard Reset! Thank you!  Grin
