I have a Nokia N8 phone here that needs to be paired to a TomTom navigation device. The TomTom can then be used as headset for the phone. When I try to pair the phone with the tomtom, the connection seems to work. I have to enter the pin-code, and the phone says the connection is established. I see a car-icon on the phone. The tomtom however doesn't agree, and after a while says the connection couldn't be established.

I could connect the N8 to another phone (HTC Android) and send a picture to the phone. Another test.... I connected the HTC to the TomTom, and the headset-function works.

It seems I'm not the only one with bluetooth problems with the N8. The firmware version is PR1.1. What can I do to get this working?

This was hard work.

You must make sure all apps and internet apps (Email & Facebook) are ofline. (Widgets to offline mode)

Set up your phone as normal.

This is the only line of text i could find to help any where on the net and it was so true.

"The problem was my email program was using a connection, so when I disconnected it my Tomtom connection was allowed"

I have now set my tomtom 1005 up 2 times and all is working very well after it went down today and i am thinging it was just an app had taken controle so i will know next time to just click on "Widgets to offline mode"

Hope this works for others out there.....
