Nokia Mail Client Doesn't Sync Properly with Gmail

Hey all! Just got my glorious n8, just got this weird problem

Basically, I had synced my phone with the gmail account when I first got my n8 and since then I only checked gmail on my windows computer.

The problem is even though at the moment I only have 42 unread emails gmail says I have 100 unread emails, and many of my old read mails on the server are NOT updated on the mail client!

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Yeah I get this problem as well. I actually have it right now.

I have a total of 3 syncs set up on my phone:

• Mail for Exchange (calendar/mail/contacts, to my work exchange). Syncs every 30 minutes.
  
• GMail (mail only). Set to sync "When mails arrive".
• OVI Sync (contacts/calendar) with ovi.com

When I boot the phone, it will sync GMail correctly for several hours, and then stall. It will permanently display the syncing animation when I open the Email application. Clicking sync does nothing. If I leave it like that for a few hours, then sometimes GMail sync will start up again all by itself. Right now I have 2½ hours of no-sync to GMail (I know since I've checked my GMail on the PC and can see which mails I'm missing).

My MfE-connection syncs correctly during the "GMail down" period, so its not a network connectivity issue.

I'll just add another theory, in case other people have the same problem and wanna chip in with troubleshooting :

My syncing broke just about the same time as I archived a couple of unread mails (Facebook-spam) via GMail on my PC. Shortly thereafter I opened one of these freshly-deleted mails on the phone.

Perhaps the sync breaks when it attempts to set the mail-read status on a mail that is no longer there? Just a thought...
