So I've ripped some of my cds with window media play which downloads the album covers and then transfer my music to my N8 but in the nokia MP3 player app, only one of my albums shows the cover image and the rest don't and I really can't work out whats going on. Any ideas?
Nearly all music file managers and libraries use the same system for storing album art which is downloaded from internet as separate files, which is to physically link the art to the folder/track is stored in, then stores the art in a totally separate folder.
Appart from wasting processing resouces this way (it has to look art folder up every time mp3 is loaded), it is also a waste of valuable memory space.
Also if the track is copied to another drive or device, the art is not, although the art location is transfered within the tag it is not possible to display a picture in an unconnected drive.
If the image itself is stored within the mp3 tag, then it is automatically transferred with the mp3 file.
If some have been showing, then it is probably because the mp3 has been ripped with the mp3 tag data intact.
I never use windows media player to rip music so dont know if it has option to store art in tag data or not, but with a good mp3 tag editor you can add it to the track, although you need to do it for each individual
Heres a link to a superb
FREE MP3 tag editor program, takes a bit of getting used to, but can also mass tag details to multiple files saving time.
