So I've ripped some of my cds with window media play which downloads the album covers and then transfer my music to my N8 but in the nokia MP3 player app, only one of my albums shows the cover image and the rest don't and I really can't work out whats going on. Any ideas?

Hi,
i've got the same problem.
I'm trying to find out, why some entry in my n8 have a cover-picture and the most others have not.
This was a hit from my google-search and i will now go on with my search. And maybe i will find it out myself... Smiley

Ok, here my solution:

you can create as much image-files in that album-folder as you may think of, but it will (as far as i can say) have NO effect.
BUT if you take a tool like mp3tag which isn't free, but seems to be one of the best, you can define a cover-image. AND THAT IMAGE will be shown in your N8.
I am very happy to see my cover-images now, but it is really not what i thought, how this should work.
Whould be better, if nokia improves this feature, that the (standard-) images in a folder are used as well.

Nice Sunday!

I use the software named Tagtuner  Cool and its really a nice soft .Here i'm giving a free download link to the software which i just uploaded .
I use this to change the tag settings of the mp3 files ...for example , it can edit the
album name , artist , title , etc... and of course the album art. I had to add the album art to most of the mp3 files myself... and now after i saved their settings and transferred them to my N8 , it just simply shows all the songs full of their details and the library is full of mp3 files with their own different artworks...
This link is to the software and unfortunately its not a full \ the premium version  Tongue, but it still works very well till its trial period is finished.
If you need any help regarding this , or even this phone , feel free to ask..Wink
Hope this helps..!
Enjoy the link.

Try this, in Ovi Player my music right click on blank album and then get album artwork if this does not work then google the album, then at the top left of the results click on images and select the correct album cover (about 300x300) right click and copy, go back tp Ovi player my music right click on album and paste, it works for me on windows 7.
Regards, Steve.

Nearly all music file managers and libraries use the same system for storing album art which is downloaded from internet as separate files, which is to physically link the art to the folder/track is stored in, then stores the art in a totally separate folder.
Appart from wasting processing resouces this way (it has to look art folder up every time mp3 is loaded), it is also a waste of valuable memory space.
Also if the track is copied to another drive or device, the art is not, although the art location is transfered within the tag it is not possible to display a picture in an unconnected drive.
If the image itself is stored within the mp3 tag,  then it is automatically transferred with the mp3 file.
If some have been showing, then it is probably because the mp3 has been ripped with the mp3 tag data intact.
I never use windows media player to rip music so dont know if it has option to store art in tag data or not, but with a good mp3 tag editor you can add it to the track, although you need to do it for each individual
Heres a link to a superb FREE MP3 tag editor program, takes a bit of getting used to, but can also mass tag details to multiple files saving time.

Its a very powerful prog, just be careful when using spaces if renaming artist and album tags. (it does allow you to put spaces at the beginning and end of the tags which doesnt affect a lot of libraries, but Nokia picks it up so can give you several albums with the same name containing only some of the tracks in each, at first glance the tags look the same)
