Dear all,

First and foremost, hello. I have been a Nokia user all my life. I recently bought a Nokia N8 to add it to my E-Series fleet (E70/72/75/90). I have huge problems with this device. It barely connects to my wifi and when it does it crashes the whole network. What happens is the following :

1. Configure my wifi via the N8. I am using WPA2 encryption.
2. It says connected, when I want to browse, I get an error to connect via my GSM provider. On top of that, the N8 displays a network not found message. So I have to reconnect manually.
3. When the N8 connects to my router and keeps the connection, it crashes the whole network. Every other device connected gets kicked out and internet does not work anymore. As soon as I disconnect the N8 everything turns back to normal.

Note: The E70/72/75/90 and iPhone 4 I have do not have these issues. 5 year old phones work better than the current Nokia N8?

This is a brand new phone and I am not happy with it.

hi and welcome.
this is the second time i see this error here.
i don't know what's the problem. try to deactivate "Power saving" from Settings > Connectivity > Wlan > Settings. maybe it helps.
the phone is ok, the problem could be from your router... or advance settings of the wireless network.
i used it until now on 2 different routers, and nothing of such kind happend.
this was disscused i suppose here :

hi!
to check if it's a problem of your router, you could try to connect to another WLAN in another place. I hope you solve your problem.

Hi! I guess i got the solution , not sure it will 100% work for u but still. I got the same problem as my brand new N8 crashed my home DLINK DIR-400 WLAN after 1-2 minutes of browsing. I was rly **bleep** off about that. What i figured out was the following. When i tried to set the filter for Wireless devices in my router it didnt accept my n8 MAC adress. It said something like "incorrect MAC" etc. So what i did was installing a newest version firmware for my router. After i did that everything worked fine for me as my WLAN accepted n8's MAC without any errors and network didnt crash. SO my guess is: OLD routers do not support n8 MACs because they have new standard or something like that. This could be the reason why n8 sometimes cant connect to networks at all poping that "wrong server" error or how is it called.

Try to update ur router firmware.

My N8 reliably crashes my WiFi router whenever I stream video. It works fine for about a minute, then the router "disappears" from all connected devices and I have to cycle power on the thing.  The router is a Huawei something that our provider (Romtelecom) forced on me when I subscibed to their Internet service.  Maybe I'll try reinstalling my good old D-Link someday...
