I have read different opinions about the battery duration on the n8, in my case de battery only last about 12-14 hours (wich is a whole day). I got up in the morning and i arrive at home 11 pm and the phone is  15%.
After I did a three buttons hard reset everythimg works better and the battery lasts longer! At least and 20%! Though is not even close of what other users are experiencing. I´ve heard that some people their phone lasts 40 hours!
I have nokia bayyery profiler and nokia battery monitor installed but the information is not useful enough.

If there is a third party application or a widget, that is draining the battery, there is a way of knowing that? Has anyone experienced battery drain after installing the most popular apps?

Current widgets: nokia reader, IM chat, accu weather, two mails - one default other mobile documents, music player. The rest are three default widgets.

I use Opera mobile and have whatsapp installed wich runs consuming about 3.6 mb on processes! The 9 grid opened on the background from offscreen.

Thanks, the forum is great.

Hey
It's probably 9Grid
I've googled around before when I installed it, and found that most people agree that it drains the battery like crazy, so I don't use it anymore.
And just check that you don't have lots of stuff running in the background when your not using it.
Press and hold the menu button, and close the applications you're not using Smiley

You could also check your widgets on the home screens are offline, so they're not connected to internet all the time.
On the home screen press "Options" and make them go offline.

With light use I usually get 3 days.
With normal use I get 2 days.
Heavy use I get 1 day.

Try charging it fully and NOT running 9 Grid.
See how long it lasts.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the quick answer! I was facing these problems before installing 9 grid, i will uninstall it just in case it might be making things worse.

For some reason I think the e-mail default application might be the reason, when i added 4 accounts i sensed more battery drain, i´ve changed the sync interval to 15 min and i use only one mail now and it improved. Accuweather widget also gives me some doubts about it.

This is what nokia monitor tells me, i do not talk that much though, weird that the talk bars are that high.

Then maybe it is  because of the mail client.
Do you really get like loads of emails in a short period of time?
Like do you really need the constant email check?

I have 2 email accounts and settings are:
Retrieval days: none
Retrieval schedule: 7:20am - 7:30am    (can be anything, it doesn't matter)
Retrieval frequency: Every day
Mail download size: full

Now HERE's the good thing. With those settings your email is never retrieved unless you open the email app, or press any of the email widgets.
As soon as you open it it automatically connects to wifi or w/e and downloads ur email.

I think that's what's saving me battery.
This way it only checks emails when I click on the widgets =]
And check your widgets are offline on your home screen, so that accuweather isn't always connecting to internet to get weather forecasts.

The battery monitor still works even if the app is closed, no need to run it in the background.
When you open it you'll see the data.

The high talk time is just for that day, maybe you called a lot, next week it will change.
The average on top is all the weekdays together, so it will also change depending on what you do.

=)

Try the email thing.
tell me how it goes Cheesy

Here's my battery distribution.
Others is usually games like sparkle and sometimes I use wikitunes instead of the default music player, so I think it also goes in others?
This gives me around 2 days
and when im not using my phone i close all apps
(thats just to take the screenshot)

Trying your settings now disables mobile documents. I am using bubbles from nokia beta labs.

I am not feeling like it has improved a lot during the last hour.

Will wait till the end of the day

thanks for the tips man.

alright hope something works for you
maybe its constantly searching for wifi?
Try setting show wifi networks to never
and make it use wifi only so it doesnt automatically connect to ur cellular network
and when i sleep i put it in power saver mode

i read a good advice on one of the other threads
try to do all the power saving you can
like try not using bubbles or stuff like everything u could do to save power
see how long it lasts
if it lasts long then it is an app or setting
try reintroducing ur apps (like bubbles) one at the time
and see if it affects battery

Smiley)hope things work out for you

Thanks a lot urdoni.

It seems disabling most of the features did not have a great impact on power saving i was only missing nokia reader and bubbles. No matter what i do with the phone it looses 6% per hour. That is like 16 hours of usage, i improvement of 50%.

That number is not enough I still prefer having low battery but being able to use thw phone with most of the futures without losing time by opening closing and being carefull about what might be consuming battery in the background. I use smartphones for saving real time in my life during the day not the other way around. So i will not spend time vs more battery. If the upgrade improves battery and i can use the phone with at least a 80% more battery i will re think about wich app is not essential.

Thanks again, i wish the nokia applications could point wich application is draining my power.

Hey
im trying to help n failing xD

Reading ur last post, looks like ur a rlly heavy user, im getting the image that ur a really active person, always working on the go etc. Cool!

Ive read a few threads in here, most people get around 2 days with average use and 1 day with heavy use, so maybe its just normal for ur usage
just a thought

N dont forget that u should charge ur battery for 6hrs i think once after u bought it

one final thing maybe the battery itself is messed up =/

thats allll i can think of now haha

yea that would be a great idea
theres an iphone app that gives u statistics about battery usage by each app
not our basic battery monitor Tongue

Wish you the best of luck!  Grin

Urdoni you did help, i also read the other threads and realized most people get 1 day on heavy use, like me. So it seems the battery is ok. I was worried that it might be a bad battery.

Nokia monitor 2.0 has just been released! It tells information of wich app is consuming most energy. "top app consumers of tje day-week-always´ it also lets you choose when to activate power save mode, awesome feature! Hope it helps.

OK, I don't know why your battery lasts just a day but you need to make sure about some things and try do to this to improve battery life.By the way mine lasts about 3-3.5 days of use and I watch videos play games surf the web and such, in a word average use.
Turn off Bluetooth when not in use, do same for WiFi.
Another thing most people do is charge their phone when sleeping. This is a bad idea because the phone charges more than it needs to...and that is not good if you want your battery to last longer. BTW when charging the phone at least once a month try letting to fully discharge and fully charge, Battery Monitor app will estimate the time needed and shows when ready. Just get Battery Monitor from Nokia Store and what I did is went to power save category in the app and at ''Automatic power saving threshold'' put it to 100%. This app will also give you tips for Power saving on your phone.
Hope this helped a bit. Good luck

hii
i faced the same problem, it's the NOKIA BATTERY MONITOR who drains your battery!!!!
my n8 usually stays for one whole day before i recharge it and the remaining battery either the whole 7 bars or 6 bars, but with battery monitor, i have to charge twice daily or more with remaining battery of half or less!!
also keep in mind that wifi connection drains the battery!
