Bought N8 when officially launched in Malaysia and was impressed with the phone UI and 12MP camera. It was worth waiting for as I was due to replace my existing phone and was shopping around for a new smartphone. Installed a few softwares from OVI and my children enjoyed playing the Need for Speed game.

Then it happens, 10 days after, the phone crash and dead. I did press the start button and the phone cannot restart. Send to the Nokia Care Centre and was informed they will have to do a hard reset and all info and data will be loss. Angry Angry . Was very upset and what choice do I have even after suggesting open the battery like other Nokia phone I had before.

Not only do I loss all the pic and important memos and contacts, adding salt to my wound, they have identified my N8 problem is the mother board and need to be replace. Worst again they don't have the part in stock (its a new phone model) and have to wait for 2 weeks at most. Ask for new replacement and the Nokia Care Centre informed that Nokia Malaysia does not have a replacement policy for faulty phone.

Call the Nokia Careline and expressed my disappointment of my faulty N8 and requested for a new replacement instead of waiting for 2 weeks and they will response by 48 hours. None receive so far.

Any forum members have similar problem of N8 crash and dead. I have found several complained in the You Tube (type: Nokia N8 problems) and thus it is not an isolated case.

Pleading existing N8 user to spread the word of poor Nokia support for the new N8.

Yes I also had a complete crash - black screen - and no way to reset.
Finally i kept pushing the on/off switch at the top of the device during about three or four minutes and finally the device restarted. I found that when the device wakes up from standby mode it needs a bit of time to reset/connect etc. When you immediatly start pushing icons or open apps after the phone wakes up the n8 is unable to deal with all these instructions and sometimes restarts automatically or will crash. When you are a bit more patient with your phone it will work fine.

I faced same problem too. The phone one week old and it's 3 days I can't use it. It always "dies" after some use. I can't understand. I bought it in Switzerland (silver-white version) and now I'm out of SW and I don't have tech. support at all for this phone. I will try to update its software. I hope it's some soft bug or I will sell it.

It wasn't worth it to wait 8 months for release and disappoint so much.

any advise welcome  Embarrassed

17.11.2010 - Reinstalling the same version of software didn't help - same problem. To turn it I need to put it in Frigidaire - probably some problem with temperature sensor. It works only inside cold area Smiley

How is it possible to identify N8 produced after the fix in the production process?

Do you think there is a link between this N8 crash information and the fact that some mobile operator switch the N8 status to unavailable on their website (French SFR for instance) since Saturday?

Thanks in advance
