Ok listen, i had the same problem, it didnt restart at first when i bought it, then after a while it started to reboot every few days, then at least once a day, till i couldnt use it anymore, it was rebooting every time when i turn on the phone, I know this will sound silly, but i put in a new SIM card, and it was working PERFECTLY, i put back in my old SIM card, rebooting again, I advice you to get any new SIM card, try it for 1 day, see the behaviour, if it continues rebooting, flash it. Good luck!

I had this, phone kept crashing at random intervals.  Even in the middle of the night!  I tried different SIM cards, no sim card, formatting the memory, re-installing the OS, everything I coudl think of.

I brought it to a NCC and they worked on it, all to no avail.

Eventually I decided to send it back, but as I needed the SatNav when on Holidays I postponed posting it for a week.  IN that week I decided to "trim" the phone and deleted as much junk as possible.  I deleted the games, the social networking stuff, and everything I felt unnecessary.  I then updated to Anna, and the result is a crash free phone!

I'm unsure as to the exact program that caused the crash, but I suspect it was one of the games.

So, in summary, it wasn't the hardware, and it wasn't the bare OS, it was some additional crap on the phone that cused the crashing.

Hope this helps (oh, and keep a backup just in case you delete the "Phone" application!!!).

Thanks Snowhite! I was having the same problem and now it just stopped restarting...

Do you know if there is someway to make 3G activate automatically when you open opera for example?

And, did you let your N8 fall into the water in the past? I let mine, and the tecnical assistance refused to do anything, saying that it was water's fault, and I could pay R$ 900,00 (around 490 dolars) so they would change the "master chip" (don't know in english, I live in brazil)...

But it looks like that it has nothing to do with water, and I'm really thinking to try to sue Nokia

sorry for double post, but I think it's useful to you guys:

Today appeared a new update on my updater on the N8, and I installed it, now, i'm with FW 25.007 and I can use 3G normally without any restart!!!!

Sim Card can be a problem too : I had an Old Sim Card [two years] and the phone crashed a lot around Calls and SMS : demanded a new SIM from the phone company [which was quite an argument : I had to talk to some Senior] and the crashes stopped.
