i have the same problem as yours, i can only turn up the volume halfway otherwise the loudspeaker would create a crackling sound. i'am very frustrated with this and i dont know if NOkia Care would be able to fix the problem. BTW, its not advisable to turn in our phones to nokia for repair because they have a bad reputation of breaking the phones rather than fixing them.

I have the same problem with one of my two N8's. To describe better the problem, when use head phones and you unplug the headphones, all the sounds get routed through the "ear speaker", instead of the "loud speaker". That's why all the sounds, music, ringtones sound quite low. Any ideas?

Thanks!

That´s not a problem.

It is a feature of N8, it helps to avoid everyone listening to whatever you are listening at the moment you disconnect the headphone from the P2 and it even works with BT headphones or  Auto radios

Thanks for your input. I'd understand the privacy thing. However from the moment I unplug the headset every sound gets routed through the "ear speaker" including the ring tone for incoming calls (which obviously you can't hear if your phone is in your pocket, or 3 feet away from you). Also I'm not sure if we talk about the same issue because only one of my two N8s does that. My "working" N8 just pauses the song it plays in the music player when I unplug the headphones. But as soon as I hit "play" the song continues through the "loud back speaker" (which I believe is the right way to play). The "non-working" N8 of mine would resume the music through the "front ear speaker".

The only fix for my "non-working" N8 I've found so far is restart the phone after I unplug the headphones. Do you know of any other option/setting/fix to get around? Thanks!!

I see, I have meant the situation you described for your "working N8".

It is true, I have misunderstood your problem.

Regarding the problem you described, I haven't been able to reproduce it in my N8.

Best regards,

Mauricio

yea this is bad problem. I had same problem with my first Apple Iphone. I think you need to exit from the music player before unplugging headphones

LOL ... either restart, or exit before unplug... Is it a hardware problem, or software problem..?

Do both of your N8s have the same firmware version?

Have the same problem...restarting it works fine for me though.  Just started happening, hopefully this doesn't keep on.
