Hey Folks I just received my Green one and it is 8pm and guess what - i opened it s happy and that was it. It does not want to start. I thought the battery is discharged but the charging indicator does not work as well - neither the AC neither VIA USB neither with both. However, I saw it 3 times blinking for 1/10 of sec white light while I was plug in in and out. It's been on the charger for 1 hour - no effect. Please advice Huh I waited this beauty for more than a month...

I have the exact same problem. Got my Silver N8 saturday nov 13 and it worked just fine.

After a sunday with okay performance, I charged it fully before I went to bed, and when I woke up I could not get it to function, Tried to charge it via normal power and usb but no succes.

Help! I feel very sad and dissapointed.  Cry

I cannot believe this is happening!!!!

I've bought my N8 at O2 Germany, and have the same problem. I did turn off WLan scan, bluetooth, GPS, and email syncro. The fact is that simply the battery sucks. I have talked to a couple of folks and did not have any kind of problem with this. My N8 is Finnish, if matters. So what the hell do I have to do?

AFTER AN ANXIOUS WAIT I GOT MINE LAST NITE. TRIED THE POWER BUTTON AND N8 DID NOT START -TRIED CHARGING -AGAIN NOTHIN- LEFT PLUGGED WHOLE NITE, STILL NO POWER, READ UP MANUAL WHICH I HAD DOWNLOADED AND TRIED ALL OPTIONS, NOTHING. IT COST ME US$60 TO SEND BACK TO THE US PHONE REPAIR CENTER. THIS IS A BRAND NEW PHONE, NOT EVEN 1 MINUTE OF USE.

LOVE NOKIA BUT TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED -GUESS MY E71 WILL HAVE TO WORK A BIT LONGER

I just had the same problem with mine. Tried several different chargers and places to charge. Then my husband found the instructions for rebooting - holding the startbutton in for 8 sec until it buzzes three times. It buzzed and I tried to start it, with no luck. Then I found the three-finger-hold for hard rebooting - one finger pressing the volume down button on the right side, one finger on the camera button also on the right side and one on the menu button in front. I did so, thought nothing happend, then I repeated the "pressing the startbutten for eight sec". It buzzed three times and I pushed the startbutton one time and waited... and it started Cheesy

Hope it can be of help for any of you others.

On a brand new phone, one should not have to use "emergency" measures to start a phone, this is like buying a brand new BMW or Benz (whatever your preference) and having to call Automobile assistance to come and give you a jump start to tumble your engiine the first time! -if you see my point?

Good luck though and enjoy N8, am awaiting mine to explore!

This phone comes to you discharged.  It has very little visual whether it's on, off, charging, or not.  This means you're pretty clueless when you first get the phone.  I too had trouble knowing if I was charging the phone at all or if I actually turned it on or just turned it off.  Until the phone has enough charge, it will NOT turn on.  When forced off like this, off and on are pretty much the same thing.

My suggestion is to do a force off, holding the power button for 8 seconds.  This is a hard reset.  This is also the only way to turn off the phone if a program freezes (will not do a hard reset in this situation).  Then you hold for 3 seconds and turn it back on.  Now you know it's on.  Plug it in and leave it for several hours.  Some phones can turn on only hafter a few minutes once plugged in, but this one doesn't.  If the battery is low enough to be forced off, it won't turn on for an hour or two.  Don't expect it to.  Also, if you are charging via USB, the computer needs to see the phone and properly install the USB drivers.  Make sure the computer installs the drivers properly.  Mine didn't the first time, so don't assume it did install or install properly.

i had the same problem. Bought the phone in Spain, worked well for 2 weeks and then started with this problem. First time i took the battery cover off (the two t4 screws ) and started working. It happened again, and nothing posted here or removing the cover works. Even though i can make it work somehow, it is a VERY UNRELIABLE telephone. It might be loaded with features, but if does not work is the same as a brick. Worst thing is that i live in Brazil so warranty does not cover the repair. If you didn't have this phone, don't buy it. Go Samsung or somewhere else
