Look in the file manager, you have a limited phone memory but also a mass memory. Just see if you have stuff in the phone memory that you can move to mass memory.

I have just the same problem, tried to reset, tried to reinstall OVI, nothing helped... if I look at the phone memory from PC there is not one byte free, if I look on the phone, there is free space... I tried to syncronise my outlook-dates (3500 adresses, agenda) to the phone, but that didn't work. Nokia-care says, that the N8 is no businesshandy, so that wont't work at all. Should I believ that?

EZ FIX---->  1)Open your MESSAGING folder...  2)Click OPTIONS then SIM MESSAGES.... 3) Delete all Sim messages on your Sim...

This has happened to me each time I switch my SIM in a new phone... Theres memory left on the SIM but the new phone doesn't recognize it...WEIRD?Huh  Huh

Just got the N8 - beginning to wonder why?

can any one tell me in how to make sure content goes directly to the mass storage rather than the phone memory which showed full very quickly.....also what can you actually move from phone memory to mass storage....

It may be just me but this seems more complicated than it's worth.  I had the E71 which was a breeze to use.

I hat at very old sim-card from (5 years old)...
Older Sim-card can have smaller memory... New phones can have problems reading that.

I had the same problem, simcard full. I deleted all contacts off and still problem. I then did the following and problem solved. Good Luck!
1. You may just have an unread SMS from your last phone that is still saved on your SIM card. To check, goto Messaging>Options>SIM messages.

2. SIM card's message memory is full. Delete messages from the SIM card. Goto Messaging>Options>SIM messages

3. Phones messaging memory is full. Try deleting messages, also checking in, Sent and drafts.

4. Even though all your messages may be marked as read, just going down through the list and opening them all again one by one have also been known to resolve this issue. This could take some time but is worth a try if you do not want to delete any messages.
