So, my screen for Nokia N8 is cracked. Everything still works fine and I can see everything on the screen, except there is a small crack on the right side of the screen.

It all happen...well I had my phone sitting on my leg when I was driving. Then once I got out of the car I forgot about the phone, it fell on the road and screen cracked.

What are my options? Will warranty cover such a thing? If not, where can I take my phone for repair or should I do it myself?

I bough the phone brand new from Amazon on December 3, 2010 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZX7RL4).

I can't find the original box or the paperwork so I don't know what the warranty covers, however, the interesting thing is that I got a replacement phone from Nokia few months ago because the original one I bought was defected. The replacement cost me nothing. So, I am worried that they might not cover the crack because I already "used" their warranty.

What do you guys thinks? Anyone had an issued like that in the past?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Well, I would suggest that you send it to Nokia and be honest about it.  They will send you a quote on what the cost of repair will be.  Now, don't count on this (in part because our circumstances are different - in my case the phone was only 3 months old and I had never had a warranty repair before), but I had a similar "problem" with my daughter's phone.  I told Nokia what happened.  I was becoming impatient with the lack of a repair estimate when the phone arrived on my doorstep with the screen replaced no-charge.  While this may not happen to you, it certainly won't happen if you send it somewhere else for repair...

Best,

You won't be covered under warranty for accidental damage, so a charge will apply.
However, if you have home insurance you may be able to claim against that for the repair to your phone. You will have to check your policy schedule to see what is covered.

If this had happened to me, I would actually destroy the phone and claim for a brand new one rather than just a repair, mainly because the excess on my policy is higher than the actual cost of repair.

You wouldn't normally need to produce a receipt as the phone isn't 12 months old yet and the warranty is for two years.

Should I try and fix it myself maybe? I found this video on YouTube -

You could try and fix it yourself if your feeling confident. However, your warranty will be voided if you do. Have you priced up a replacement screen and compared that price to the cost of having Nokia repair the phone for you? If the difference is only small then it would be best to have Nokia repair the phone. This way will preserve the warranty.
