Its nothing to do with the networks or branding.
Its your own personal security settings to safeguard your phones use should you lose it and someone else inserts their sim, it locks the phone from use.
Go to Menu/Settings/Phone/Phone management/security settings/phone & sim card
scroll down to lock if simcard changed, and change setting to "NO"
If you require a code for this and have not previously altered it, the default setting is normally 12345.
You will then be able to swap and use any sim cards presuming you phone is not locked to a network. If it is then you will only be able to use sim cards from your own network.

Ive tryed that. Thats what i mean, my phone isnt branded so should be able to have any network sim in it like my girlfriends one does. Ive tryed the default code but it doesnt work. Ive not set any passwords either. Is their a away to set the phone back to default so all locks are back to default.

if i put my girlfriends sim into my phone it asked me for my lock code. But i can put my sim in her phone and also her phone being the same as mine and from the same provider, i can put an orange/o2/vodafone ect sim into hers no problem. i havent changed the code or even set it to lock.

Is their anything i can do to remove this lock.

It sounds as if your phone is locked to the SIM it came with.  If it was bought from a network supplier, that is probably the case.  You either need an unlock code from your supplier or you need a 3rd party service to supply you with an unlock code.

I buy my phones unlocked (yes they are more expensive that way) so I don't have much experience with who is good as a 3rd party supplier.

Its def locked to your own sim card only.
If you havent changed password, and it isnt the default (12345)
then someone has changed it or set it before you got it.
A phone may be set to a network by manufacturers/providers, but they dont normally lock it to a particular sim, that is a user option.
If you bought it from a particular shop, theyve maybe been using it as a demonstrator previously.
I would contact them and see if they can sort it or replace it.

If there was a way around it, it wouldnt be a security feature and anyone could do it to use a different sim, defeating the purpose of the lock.
You could try your service provider they will be able to supply you with your PUC code
but not sure that that will reset the security code.

I think he will need the provider to give him the security code that they used to replace 12345.
