Nokia has updated its Maps app today to version 3.08. It brings both visual and functional improvements that will be appreciated a lot from the people using it on a regular basis.

Maps 3.08 comes with improved design and new dashboard for Drive guidance and assistance. The settings have also been reorganized and shortcuts for easy switch between the different metric systems have been added on the screen. The new Maps app brings live traffic updates and now you can set a contact for your destination

Update yours Now!

Another map update that doubtless still can't actually pick the fastest route unlike my 10 year old TomTom can........and my 3 year old TomTom dances utter rings around this!  Shocked
C'mon Nokia, improve the route calculations function and change the damn roundabouts symbol at the top to actually show a proper indication of the junction direction cos the number of times it shows the 3rd turning as "turn right" when it's actually "straight on" makes the symbol completely useless as a guide.
How about fixing those things so that it actually has better functionality rather than making it prettier!  Huh

Juancho tks
Is correct . Is still in beta phase and can be loaded from betalabs.nokia.com
Currently testing - layout looks promising.....
Buttons to 'navigate' ,'checkin' and favourites and further navigation options are somewhat hidden (touch current position on top). Guess most people dont like that .....

I'll agree with Gadget, still a "long long way" to go to beat tom tom.
Routes are crap (mines even calculated an 11 mile trip for a mile distance !!!!!)

I also have it installed since yesterday and I think, its better to go back to 3.06 or 3.07. Its much too buggy, ressource-blocking and not stable.

GUI is nice. But that's all.

I'm really disappointed.

Mine insists on trying to take me through a city centre to get home from the office when I live in a town below the city and work in a town above the city.
Direct route through the city takes 60-90mins depending on traffic..... Angry
Going around the city takes 35-40mins depending on traffic...... Grin
Something tells me that Nokia need to switch to the mapping data that TomTom use  Huh

Suppose thats logical (shortest route distance wise), but I just gave up with mine.
I cant see any logical reason why it takes tries to take me away from where I want to go before routing me back again, even when it re-calculates a route if I divert, it still works out a long way round.
And its not limited to the N8, did the same on N96. Tom tom worked great on N96, but not found a working version for N8 yet.
