So... as a possible buyer I'm a little confused by this rave review.  I thought the browser on the N8 was the anti-Christ of browsers.  (As in, not good).  Did they upgrade the browser?

Yes, they did upgrade the browser, but it is an incremental change which was not sufficient to put the browser at even the mid-point of the market (compared to the competition such as iPhone).  GSM Arena noted the continued clunky nature of the browser and recommended going to the latest version of Opera Mobile (10).  I picked up a beta version of an upgrade to version 10 of Opera Mobile from the Opera website yesterday primarily because I like the Opera interface better.  I only have a little experience with it at this point so I won't try to give you a real review at this point in time.

Having said all that, I bought the N8 knowing that certain features would be less developed than some of the competition and other features would be better.  Alternative browsers for mobile use are pretty common and there is an established developer body that can update their current  products to make maximum use of the Symbian 3 capability.  Given the huge initial sales success of the N8 world wide (not so much in the US), I expect that Symbian 3 specific browsers will hit the market soon.  It is just too large a market to ignore.

Regards,

Who is the guy who did the review? A Nokia guy? It is the first time I heard so many good things about the Nokia Browser.
Look at this video that compare the Nexus one browser and the N8 browser and you will understand what I mean

Thanks for the follow-up.  My experience in the Android world was not great which is why I'm thinking of the N8.  When I bought my G1, nothing worked.  The email app was terrible, no bluetooth file transfer, etc., anyway, the entire package was geared for "gosh let's have fun with our phone", market.  In order to actually make it into a smartphone you had to (and from what I read still have to) pile on applications from the app market.  So, having a great browser meant nothing.  Some of the same issues (lousy email app) apparently are still problems with the latest version of Android.  On the other hand I have had nothing but great luck with the Nokia smartphones I've owned going back to my trusty 6600, which can still do things the G1 cannot.  So... how does the blue look?  Is it really uber feminine?
