Greetings fellow N8 users, I hope you are all well.

I have had a nokia N8 for a while now and on new years eve I somehow pressed the 'Lock Phone' option and now the phone requires the security code to unlock the phone.

Unfortunately I do not have this code, i have looked everywhere and I have tried so many different codes, none worked.

I have searched the internet and this forum thoroughkly and cannot find anyone who has the same issue, and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Is there a way of resetting/reinstalling the phone to factory state so that i can get over this issue? Its a great phone and seems a shame to have to throw it away if nothing can be done.

I look forward to any replies, thank you in advanced  Smiley

interestingly I found that after a 266Meg Belle Update my N8 started asking for a code at Re-starts ; and when I typed the wrong code it ran anyway ! 

It seems to have inherited and Re-Activated an old code that I had to put-up-with when I installed Mail-For-Exchange; and it was threatening a phone-lock after five attempts.

Luckily I remembered the old five-digit code that I was forced to use [for a while] and was able to change it back to default "zero-zero-zero-zero".

to check and set your lock-codes : menu > settings[the 'cog'] > phone > phone-management > security-settings > phone-and-SIM-card    :   but at that-point you have to know your codes [I think the default phone-lock code is four zeroes and some other default codes are 1234. ]   best of luck!
