Already posted in another topic about same, but here goes again....

At a guess,  I would say no, its not possible, and more importantly should not be possible.

Reasons being, FM transmitter power will more than likely be controlled via the transmitter module components itself, not by any hackable settings on the actual phone.

To explain briefly and hopefully understanable to the general layman....

In most places, (and definately in the UK) it is illegal to broadcast on certain wavebands & frequencies without a broadcasting licence.
The FM band is one of those such bands.
The reason being is to avoid possible interference on already established frequencies,  (FM is used by Radio, general communications and the emergency services) however,
by limiting the power & effective range of a transmission it avoids any issue of interference, as power is considered negligable and would be "drowned out" by a stronger signal.

Nokia will have incorporated the Transmitter under strict regulations as to its capability, or would not have been allowed to produce it for use (especially in the UK anyway)

When a signal is boosted without the proper equipment to regulate it, it also creates what they call "harmonics", which is signals also going out on other frequencies in the range which leads to further interference.

If you were able to "boost" its output, I think you would find you would be seriously breaking the law, and liable for both a hefty fine & possible imprisonment.

My N8's fm transmitter won't even get picked up in the car when I'm sat inside it yet I have a cheap'o ebay special FM transmitter which can broadcast all around the house and in the garden... Great for partys!

I also would like to boost the signal of the FM transmitter. I don't belive that the chip inside the n8 is capable of breaking the broadcasting law since you would need a huge aerial (like you see at a taxi office) for it go more than a few metres.

On another note, I would also like to expand the bandwidth so it can broadcast on 87.10 up to 108.00 (the standard bandwidth of a UK radio) due to the fact that 108.00 is normally free but most other frequencys have been taken by other radio stations which interfears with the weak signal of the n8.

Found this for the n900 http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/fm-boost/ is there anyway it could be used to program a s^3 app or TweakS app.... might have to see if CoderuS is free... Tongue
