Set the scene mode to landscape (focusing on infinity needs no light)

I have always thought that Nokia series cellphone can not support camera function very well! Cellphone is a cellphone!

Landscape Mode may kill the red light but it locks the focus to the farthest distance so taking photos of something near you may be blurred.  A sticker may also kill it but consider why the red light is there in the first place. The N8 needs a minimum amount of light in order to focus.  Only if your subject is too dark, the red light is added. So however you disable the red light, you probably prevent the N8 to focus on nearby subjects in low light.  One answer might be to add manual focus control, which should be a simple software trick!

hey AWyeah : does it still focus any-good in darkness?  - the purpose of the red-light is to help focusing by making a light source so that the 'contrast based focusing system' has something to work with when it's dark.   let us know how it goes in dark.

Actually the main purpose of the red light is to make sure that the phone will not be use for things that would violate privacy such as voyeurism.

Japan was the first country who tried implement this.
