Hi all,

I know this might be an old question for you and you've seen it plenty of times.

I got my N8 like 8 months ago and I am totally satisfied. It's made in China (no, not the Chinese copy).. There are more than 10 pre-installed Chinese applications, and when I try to uninstall it gives me the message 'removing cancelled'.

In one of the topics here I read about an application called 'AppStop N8.sis', but it didn't work out fine.

Can someone please tell me how to remove these applications? Any tricks?

Thank you very much in advance! Smiley

hi.
Ive got a genuine n8 made in china and there are no chinese apps on mine, so i wonder exactly what uv been sold, and so should u. In the past ive had nokias made in different countries but that never reflects on the firmware so, i would really think about taking it back if i were u because it doesnt sound genuine.
I didnt want to risk doing any debranding or anything like that on my n8, so i discovered by accident, that if i downloaded the same apps again, the new downloads replace the old and at the same time remove the uninstall protection. So i just googled each app i didnt want and found them one by one and got rid of them. The app store had afew and some i found here, others elsewhere.
But if ur apps are in chinese, i dont think u will have any luck trying that.
Honestly, i would be questioning the phone as to whether its genuine or not. Take it into ur nearest nokia care service centre and get them to look at it, thats what i would do.

Hi nb4n8,

Thank you for your reply.

Well, I am sure it's a genuine since it came with Symbian and then I updated to Symbian Anna.

In my case, it's like 10-12 applications. It's pretty annoying.

I registered to this website to be able to answer your question because I had the same issue before. You can simply restore to factory settings using the second option where all of your files shall be deleted. make sure to backup your contacts and you memory card. aside from that, if you are going to restore it from your backup after you restore it to factory defaults, make sure that YOU DIDN'T BACKUP YOUR APPLICATIONS INSTALLED TO YOUR PHONE AND MASS MEMORY.

That's what I did because I have a bunch of Chinese apps such Chinese ONTV before.

If you don't want to take the risk, you can just wait for Symbian Belle which I believe to be scheduled for release this coming February.

This trick does not work on Belle Sad

I tried to reformat my phone to factory defaults and the Chinese software went back and anna OS  went back as well. I installed belle then perform the trick. I still get the same results. It works for me.

Did you follow the steps?
