Morning all....
let me elaborate a bit more on what my subject heading means. I'm with Wind Mobile (Canadian cellular carrier), and was recently charged roaming, or so I'm told, because the phone switched between "Wind Home" to "Wind Away".
I do NOT travel nor do I roam, but my understanding is that any phone can occasionally pick up another towers signal, hence the roaming charge(s). The folks at Wind Mobile were kind enough to credit me back and suggested I change my phones settings manually to their network so this wouldn't happen again.
I was reading the manual for the N8 and figured out how to do this (but just to make sure I'm doing it right I'll list the steps here) :
Settings > Connectivity > Operator Selection > Manual and from there I select
Wind Home.
Here's the problem; anytime I go into my basement, an elevator or anywhere where the signal gets cut off completely the phone of course loses the network and in the upper left hand corner of the screen, where it displays my network : "Wind Home" just disappears.
Now when I get out of that cellular dead zone, and I'm back in the wireless range, it does not automatically switch back to "Wind Home". Instead, it prompts me to select my network and gives me a list of like 6 or 7 options :
1) Wind Home < ---- Which is of course, the one I want
2) Wind Away
3) Wind Away
4) Wind Away
5) Wind Away
6) Wind Away
Now unless I manually select "Wind Home" it won't pick up a signal at all. The problem this poses (especially when the phone is locked and I don't see that screen) is that if somebody were to call me, I'm guessing I'd miss that call.
So what I'd like to know is : Is there any way to force the phone to always (automatically) select "Wind Home" without user input?
