This is an option, though it isn't as good as you would like.
Clean your computer, then move all the files from your phone to a save folder on your computer and reset your phone.
Hope this is useful

Hi, I'm Orlando from Mexico and from what I see you maybe got Novir virus, you should try to download kaspersky for both (your pc and mobile). Do you see any folder or file shown as a shortcut? If so, theyre maybe just hidden, please contact me if you want to know how to restore those files.

Best regards!!!

Ok, I hope you have scanned your pc and mobile first. To unhide files and folders that could be hidden by a virus you must do this.

1.- Connect your mobile to pc ( check what letter does the OS assigns to them, most of times E and F)

2.- In your pc go to Start, Run. Type cmd in the run window and press ok. A black window will appear, this is the MS-DOS command prompt.

3.- Once in msdos window type e: or f: or the letter that the os gave to your mobile drives and press enter.

4.- Normally when you run msdos you get something like this C:\Documents and Settings\Username and after you type f: or letter: it should appear like "Letter":\. Once it shows the letter you should type this.-  attrib \s \d -s -h -r *.* and hit enter.

5.- It may take some time to process, it depends on how many files you have. I attached some jpg.

Hope this helps

Hi,

The procedure I mentioned is for cleaning a possible infected device. I don't know how to format and reload to initial settings.

The procedure is for formatting your device and it will come as clean as you bought it. After that its strongly recommended to install an antivirus first. See kaspersky or FSecure Wink

The procedure above is neither formatting or cleaning the drive.
It is merely resetting the attributes of ALL files on the mobile drive to show.
It will also set attributes for all system & hidden files on the phone, so be very carefull if youre deleting any files in future.
The actual virus will not be cleaned off either the PC or the mobile by this method, and if it is still on the PC, reconnecting the phone to the PC could result in exactly the same thing happening again.
It is possible that there is no actual virus on the phone, only the PC & that by connecting any external drive the virus triggers a dos command to change the attributes to hidden.
(lots of viruses do this to try to protect themselves from being visible for manual deletion)
My recomendation before changing anything would be to leave the phone connected to PC, then run a FULL virus scan from PC to include ALL files & Connected Drives.
Follow any instructions to remove/quarantine problem files then disconnect phone & do Hard reset.
This way, you will be sure both the phone & PC are scanned and cleaned to avoid any cross contamination when reconnecting the phone again.

It seems I have a similar problem, but I'm not sure it's a virus.

Basically, after I upgraded to 13.16 pr 1.1, I stopped being able to access my sound clips folder when connecting my nokia n8 to pc directly.

Even the file folder path is different. Is anyone else having this problem?

On phone E: it shows Sound files>Sound clips> the_voice_file.amr
On pc E: it shows Sounds>Digital or Simple (Empty folders)

If someone has updated to 1.1, can you tell me if what you see on the phone's file manager? Sounds or Sound files

on the PC, is it Sounds or Sound files.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: The file is there somewhere, I believe it's hidden. No access via PC, except if I connect to OVI suite (which is tedious, if trying to access the files on a computer without OVI)

Even though you don't have an antivirus, you can still solve this issue. The virus you have only hides the folder but not the files inside it. What you can do is to open the hidden folder on your pc, create another folder and put all the contents inside this folder. Delete the hidden folder and then create another one with the same name. And then transfer the copied files again.
