How do I get facebook updates on homescreen?

Thats easy
just go to your home screen and long press the area....
then add a widget named “social"
After that, open the widget and login to your facebook and twitter account.....
that's all.
Close it after logging in and you will see your updates on the home screen....
Also make sure that your home screen is online....."options » online widgets".

He is right with that. I think you should believe them because it was exactly what I did. You can try this and see for yourself the result.

I did try this but then it gave me an error stating Unable to access gateway? Anyone got this?

I'm too getting this error !!
Yet haven't figured out how to solve this problem ...
Maybe it could work if the social app is reinstalled. Earlier i had v1.1 and it worked fine but since i've updated it to the latest v1.2 , its continuously showing this error ! This maybe fixed in the next firmware update by nokia i guess .

Possible fix for your connection errors:

If you have Internet Services from your Operator, the settings you receive will add streaming, wap and so on. These are listed at the following location:
Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Settings -> Destinations -> Uncategorised

Here you will find all your access points that were added by the operator received settings.
1) Long press the one you want to use for the Internet (including WLANs)
2) Choose "Move to other dest."
3) Select Destination: Internet
4) Go back to "Destinations"
5) Go in Internet
You will see all the access points you moved there, plus the known (or ones you connected at least once) WLAN networks
6) Reorder the list by preference (I recommend first putting the WLANs, then the Operator-created Access Points) using "Long Press" and selecting "Change priority".
I would also recommend not deleting "Mobile Internet" or "Mobile Internet PRE" (these are defaults provided by Symbian)
7) When finished simply go Back to the main menu and do your "mojo"

Hope this helped, it certainly solved my problems :-)
