Does anyone know how to use the N8 to delete mails from server. I had an N97 which allowed me to choose to delete mail from phone, server or both. Can this be done on the N8?

While I can't speak for all server interfaces, I also have N95 and N85s in the family and I am familiar with the question that you raise.  I have only tested this on Yahoo mail, but when I delete a message on my N8, I am not prompted to decide whether I want to partially delete. It simply deletes the message from my phone and the Yahoo server at the same time.  I don't know whether this is just the default and you can set it to work differently, but this behavior is much more convenient for me.

Well I'll do the best I can, but I haven't had any problems with it.

First, I assume that you set up your mail application on the phone to get Yahoo! mail. (As opposed to trying to get it over a web connection for example).

Second, I assume you have some mail that has been downloaded from Yahoo.  I assume this is the same old mail you are referring to.

Third, I assume you have the settings for your Yahoo mail account synchronization settings set to fetch every day, fetch all day download full message and that you have the default soonest set for fetch frequency.

With those settings, I had no problems with Yahoo mail.  I did have a problem with OVI mail synchronizing when I had those settings so I changed my fetch frequency to every 15 minutes.  That solved that problem and you might try that too.

OK, now I would recommend that you delete the mail in your yahoo mail box on your N8.  Then, from another account, if possible, send yourself a message to your yahoo mail account.  It should automaticall synchronize and download that message within 15 minutes.

Let me know if that works.
