When I tried to change the Product Code with Phoenix I had to introduce a 7 digit number in the "Order Number" field (I introduced 1234567). Does anyone know what this field is for? Have I lost my warranty? Can I delete that number?

hello,

yes, it does not matter, i have updated the 11.12 firmware with a 13.16, using phoenix procedure... it does not ask for the order number, it is not interested of it at all.
Changed from operator dedicated firmware to a generic euro firmware, no question asked.

have a good day,

hello,

i'm not sure i follow you.
Once you update from 11.12 to 13.16, over the USB cable ( via Phoenix ), there is no other update over the air - as operating system is concerned, the 13.16 is last known version.
I do not know what would happen with the next version, but i suppose that will download and install it before waiting for vodafone to put it OTA... as of now, the 13.16 is not available OTA but in some areas only.
On the other hand, after installing, phone found the two small updates available - the video player and midnight theme packages, possibly to install OTA.
And on OVI software, there are available also the three games.

Hope that i explained well..

have a good day,

hello,

definitely it can be done. Over USB is same thing as going to any nokia care shop and re-write the software. No matter what version existing, they can flash it. If you go to your operator shop, probably they will write down the customised version.
About warranty, i do not know the answer, one can say that as the new version is not updated OTA, how the hell did you get it... never the less, it is genuine Nokia coming from their servers...
Bottom line, i updated ( other did the same ), phone found future small imprevements OTA, they work.. that is enough for me.

if you just read the menu's of Phoenix is no problem, but if you're going to tweak etc, then you can do something wrong and do you have to flash nagain.

You can flash with Phoenix btw without loosing any data of contacts, pics, vids or music.

you ask for pic? i just made one, here you can see RM-596 N8 plugged in, and that i can change my product code if i whant.
But i don't whant or have to lol.

In the pic, my production serial i made it black in paint, normally you have there you nr, but i don't whant to put it on internet Smiley

Don`t be so smart! You can`t change product code, you can only flash it with Phoenix.

So, the way this thread has gone means that any firmware installed via phoenix is done despite what the product code is. That will mean that when the next (PR2.0?) comes out it will also need flashing via Phoenix, not OTA. If so, does that mean i will start from fresh? or will User Data Preservation will occur and i should keep some of my stuff (i like the way mine is set up at the moment!)
