I don't think a mod will void the warranty..
U can always reflash a brand new firmware if you need to ship it to nokia...

First of all thank you for this great N8 mod in this great forum!!!

I tried the mod with the firmware PR 1.0 and it works really good.

Unfortunately I updated to PR 1.1... and now it is not working anymore, you already sad this.

Is there any update for this mod?

Or

I had to install the old firmware via NavifirmPlus to run the mod again?

Not possible to downgrade even with phoenix... You have to take it to Nokia care for that.

Wait a few more days, mod will soon be available for new firmware

You can uninstall it easily....
A mod does not void warranty, mostly if you can erase all traces of it being installed

@TooSloo,

weird...

it seems to work in my N8 nokia:
unlocked PR1.1 firmware 013.016

I installed the Mod into my phone's E:MASS memory by using copy paste from my PC, then I went into E:mass memory with file manager, I launched the Mod, it opened the menu list, I chose which mods I wanted, I then run it and it installed flawlessly into C:Phone memory.

I checked under "Installed apps" and it shows "sklchan N8 mods", Version 5.00(0), Supplier:sklchan, status:installed, memory in use C: Phone memory, Application size 42kB, Format:SymbianOS(TM), Type: application.

Maybe I am under my own digital mod "placebo" effect?
 Shocked
How can I verify if it is actually working or not?
 Huh

Just see if you can turn off the sound of the camera, or if you get AF with videos...
This version was actually made for the first firmware
The second one is already posted in here somewhere...

@ Toosloo,

Well, that's the point, yes, I can select "OFF" for camera sound and the focusing IR servo light comes on  in Video mode.

Perhaps, I simply downloaded the right mod to start with. In any case, the my favourite improvement is the slight improvement in UI interaction/fluidity.

I now installed again the SPB UI and now I can actually feel it flowing as on my Android hTC Desire HD.

Quite honestly, if Symbian would develop a full UI based on the SPB interface (not only the desktop or superficial level), then I think that Symbian would have had a real shot at the market and Nokia would not have needed to abandon this platform...

I'm curious to know why Symbian didn't think of it... perhaps the Symbian OS UI simply cannot be modified in it's basic menus to perform and appear as the SPB app mimics on the surface.
