hello,

as far as i understand, unlocking mens the possibility of using any carier Sim-card, that is done to the moment by receiving an unlock code from the carrier. There was a code calculator based on IMEI on the net, for older phones, or you had to pay for the unlock code, but to the moment i'm not sure that there is someting similar available for the N8.
Reflashing, means rewriting the OS on the phone for various reasons, hard reset, update, custom ROM cooked, and so on...same thing as going to Nokia Care shop.
Question is, how to reflash with the newer firmware, actually i have the 11.12, wanna go write down the 13.16 version, before having it available through OVI update ? i just need to have the newest, official version. Is it possible ? can someone explain ? as far as i saw before it is explained the procedure to reflash with same content as shipped, that is 11.12 firmware.
My phone is unlocked, just in case it helps this info ?

have a good day,
radu

I'll reflash my n8 using the new version 13.16 later today...
And this new firmware: 13.16 has already been updated and is already in the tutorial...
Download link as well...

Just flashed my N8 using the new firmware
downloaded via navifirm Plus 1.1

It works fine...
The cracked UDA does not work on this firmware yet...
Cheers

hi Toosloo,

It worked... had to put phone in sleep mode ( dead phone proc ) then started again, and voila... finally, was able to choose the firmware of my choice... that did the trick..
Now, i still have an old theme installed that is not seen by the App. Manager, therefore can not uninstall... weird.... any thought on this ?

have a nice day,
radu

LE : nvm, reinstalled theme again,  then deleted with AppMan.

Flashing successfull with new firmware and new cracked UDA.
There you go:

hacked UDA for 13.16:

Firmware (Euro Blu --> French/english/Italian/German/Spanish.Portugues):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GZ73C5CW

Too bad for those who don't read the topic to the end LoL
I'll update this on the first post in a few days.
I hope you guys are intelligent enough to install your games and apps on your memory card (no need to reinstall anything)

Follow the instructions of the tutorial, and post here if you have any trouble.

Greetings,

First of all, thank you for the tutorial.

This may seem like a silly question, but can I do this exact same procedure to flash a debranded official european N8 firmware (any will do, as long as there's english in it) into my orange-branded french N8?

I don't want a hacked firmware. At the moment, I don't want to install unsigned applications and I'd rather be able to make OTA firmware updates in the future.

If so, what should I do when the "file is missing" box appears?

Solved, I hadn't pressed the "patch" button during phoenix installation.

I successfully reinstalled the firmware, but it just installed the orange branded firmware again.
What did I do wrong? Can I just download another version from navifirm? How can I find an european generic firmware in there?

For those who tried it...
Please post if it was easy or hard
If you found the explanations easy or hard...
Some are afraid of trying it, so please share your experience..
Good step by step guide. It worked ok on a Movistar - Spain N8.
Thank you very, very much.

Just installed the European DG PR1.1 UK-Ireland directly through Phoenix.

Finally, no more Orange stuff, what a relief!

Thanks a lot.

I had some trouble getting Phoenix to find the update files until I put them in a folder named RM-576 in the 'products' folder, then it showed up. I couldn't download the updated firmware(13.16), so I tried to install the euroblu using a windows 7 laptop, it didn't work the first time, but after a reboot of the phone and laptop it worked fine.
After doing this I was able to update to 13.016 using the update utillity on the phone itself! It was vodaphone branded, but now its all clear and much better without all that clutter they put on there..

Is there an easy way to install the Hacked UDA without a total reflash?
