I love the idea of the social app that comes pre-installed. However i have found it to be not very good. for instance if you want to search for tweets, you click on the search button and it opens a web page to do the search. Not only that, but the web page has a broken image link on it.
Also, has anyone found an easy way to search for the same hash tag that somebody has posted? I cant click on the hash tag in the tweet, or find any way to copy it. So i have to click on the search button and type the hash tag on the search web page.

Thank goodness for the excellent gravity client which i have installed. Thanks also to the authors who were very helpful in transferring my licence for this from my old N86 to my new phone.

its my first smartphone and the layout of the UI to me was so disorganized, I'm a person who really likes to fiddle with the settings, make sure it vibrates then rings, different ring, turn off wireless features until i say so... took me about a week to learn how to properly navigate phone and get to some of these settings.

a lot of people sounding sour about the camera, If you use the automatic setting the pictures tend to be messy, use the proper settings in proper environment, pictures come out much much better, also, take off the protective film cover!

The browser is still clunky, and there are many pages that it will not display, just freezes white (Yes Javascript is enabled).

And Opera 10 does not display them correctly either. For example on a PC, www.oakridgeboys.com   At the bottom of the picture are clickable links, such as Forum etc. On the N8, even with Opera, these do not appear. If I goto the Forum link by typing the URL from the PC, when I login, the screen just goes white......similarly with the secure login to www.airnewzealand.co.nz, Newspapers link on www.stuff.co.nz

Unlike my old N95, I cannot edit the Song Details to correct any errors such as Album Title etc from when I ripped the CD.

I don't like the media-player because:
  it does not support ogg.
because there is no setting  for the directory for media files.
it just loads whatever is on the card. so i have a lot of windows apps on it with a lot of sound files with it.
i don't like the alarm because:
when you press snooze or you didn't get there in time, there is no way to turn it off, you need to wait for the next time it runs.
edit: you do are able to turn it off, when going to alarms, it's there with the title snooze
there is also no notification for it when it did go off and you did not hear it.
the speaker is placed on a bad place, when flat on its back the sound is really low.
when the screen is locked you can still lower the volume or press the menu button:
i could allow the volume to work , but not when connected with the original headset who has volume buttons
  it should be a setting
The amoled screen, i use the screen-saver as clock-radio at night:
seems amoled is not what i tought it was, black meaning pixel was off, i can still see it at night
it is superposed to save power so why is it still bright especially the date?
it is supposed to save power , why not a blue clock instead off white(red, green and blue)??
why is the phone not optimized for amoled
i had to do a software update to get a real black theme suited for amoled
why is can't we turn off wifi??
we can turn of the scan but wifi is still on?? is that powersaving??
Menu button:
why is it always on when i play video??? when in the settings i have it off in 5 sec
i also dislike ovi suite:
it installed like 500+MB of software
  it installed dotnet, c++ library's,flash
it is crappy software as is the player who doesn't even can make playlists from music on your phone. i have no music on my pc so you see the problem?
why cant my phone download maps itself?? i download with ovi store, save it to mass storage, it than say there are updates for the maps, and when you try it, it says not enough space free?? and looking at the space it means my windows partition.
keyboard:
when you edit text there is no abbort when you make a mistake, so the new value is applyed always
ovi maps:
i couldn't get it to select the adres i want to start from
as a consequence you can not preview you route as far as i know

@emdk  what happens when you press the menu button?  It doesn't bring up the menu on mine it gives me the option for a swipe unlock.  No big thing?

I personally think that their is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too much hype around the camera.  I cannot deny that in macro mode with plenty of light it takes.....well perfect pictures but most other times you need good light for a great picture.  When taking a picture in low light you might as well take it at the 1.3MP setting because zooming in on a bigger pic will just show you how grainy and noisy it is.
And all those easyly satified people out there that thing this camera is brilliant at low light...does no one actually use the highly raited 720P high def video camera?  Because the video in low light is awful.  Noisy and black lines appear everywhere

some people are saying that camera not clear or not good,,,,,
thats not a big issue cuz 1) the camera cover might not ne removed yet which makes the picture cloudy thats cuz the plastic cover needs to be removed as it makes the flash diffuse and make the picture cloudy. 2) tje camera resolution might have been setted to a low megapixel so just make it 9 or 12 mp and that will be fine. However if ur not fully liked ur camera captures to any reason just capture the image and go and edite it and adjust whatever needed.......

Wish tese advices are helpfull.....

same here but at this point the thing is at full power. so i am sure when it is in my pocket this button is pressed many times.

also when you download the maps, the POI are not downloaded they only work when you are on-line.
today someone asked my a addres wich i am sure my omnia(with IGO) would have found, but not my n8 you need the address, and if your address is like "somestreet 4 bus 0202" you can be sure there will be no match.
you need to store "bus 0202" with additional crap.

Browser - absolutely pathetic. bitterly disappointed.
            - keeps crashing, cannot stream live sport from BBC website despite being told by vodafone that it could over 3G ( might be vodafones fault, so have raised it there)
            - clunky, slow and despite setting it to connect over contract internet ONLY, it still tries to connect to WAP....WHILST being connected to Contract internet.... Rubbish.

speaker - in the worst place ever. if the phone is Face up on a soft-ish surface - say arm chair - then you won;t hear it ring, or in your pocket against your leg.... Rubbish.

Music Player - again - Absoultely Pathetic.
                 - the way it sorts and displays the albums is simply not usable. if you have a compilation album you need to spend AGES using MP3Tag to get the album to appear properly, and as for AlbumArt....forget it, it doesn;t show the album covers, oh, or sometimes it does, then again, sometimes it doesn't !!!

Social Widget - Randomly requires the password to get into Facebook.... WHY Huh?

Proximity Sensor  - is set too close. just moving it across your ear will activate the screem causing you to place calls on Hold, Mute or disconnect. ( or maybe there is nothing between my ears ant that is what it is picking up  ;-)  They need to increase the distance from the apparent 0.002mm that it is set to. ( my workaround is to slidelock the phone at the start of EVERY call.....Rubbish

Bluetooth file transfer - Forget it.  you can't save music files if sent via bluetooth...Rubbish.

I am sooooooooooo annoyed with this phone and I have been waiting for ages for it to come out. I love(d) Nokia phones before this, but there are too many BASIC issues for this to be regarded as a Leader in it's category. It pains me to say it but the Desire/HD is a fabulous phone in comparison....but for the camera...and that's about it.

this does the job until an update is provided

Im very disappointed with a few things. First thing is picture messaging. Everytime I send a picture message, it goes straight to the outbox folder instead of the sent folder. And it always says that the message is deferred so I had to send picture messages twice for people to get them. I had the phone for about a month and it hasnt done it in the past couple of days so we'll see. The phone is also sluggish sometimes and sometimes I have to tap things twice for it to work. I really hope we get a software update soon that can fix these problems...... That being said, I love the phone and I give it a 90 out of 100.
