http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/products/featured-phones/belle-nfc-phones/

Download it through Nokia Suite on your PC

I've been playing around with it briefly and the major changes I've noticed:

The design: the homescreens, widgets and icons look brilliant, very fluid and a vast improvement over Anna, the design can honestly compete with android and ios now. The widgets can be moved to much more positions now which means you have more control over the design of the homescreens There's also a digital clock on the homescreen which is reminiscent of the HTC one, it looks great.

The keypad: I'm not sure if this was officially announced but I've definitely noticed an improvement in typing, I'm making less errors in both the portrait and landscape keyboard.

The controls: they've totally revamped the on-screen controls, it makes it faster to navigate in general, you now only have to press one of the four buttons at the bottom of the screen to do something which would have taken longer on Anna. There'a also a pull down taskbar which you can access from any of the homescreens, it shows you all of your notifications which makes it easier and well organised.

speed: I noticed a slight increase in loading webpages in opera browser, but nothing significant.

I do have a few nitpicks however, the new lock screen analog clock is ugly, I want the old one back. Also there is still a slight lag when opening certain apps and games, I was hoping they'd fix that in this one.

Like I said I've just been playing around with it for a bit there's obviously many more changes.

Installed it earlier today, and have played around with it too.. A few "bugs"; sometimes it will not connect to wifi (have to restart the phone for it to connect), and it has "frozen" a couple of times.. Guess it`s just a question of finding the right settings. This far I must say Belle looks nice!

Have either of you performed the *#7370# reset? This may fix the performance issues you are experiencing, especially since this is a major update and you've probably got some left over code from Anna causing a conflict.

Worzel.

If you want to check out what apps you had, look in e:/sys/bin (from PC using USB).

Secondly, been using Belle now for about a week (well since the first day). Impressions:

Pro
------------------------
Much faster - no lag. In fact impressively fast considering the old processor
Much better looking (well more modern anyway)
Love the new email widget
Better battery performance - I am getting 2-3 days per charge
Built in web browser is now usable
Fewer presses required to do most things
New menu works well
Slide down bar (ie. symbandriod Smiley ) works well.
True one thumb operation now (for those pesky train trips where you have to stand)

Cons
-------------------------
Lost apps (although most are reinstalled - for free)
I miss the battery status from the icon - although the widget makes up for it
Things have changed a bit, and it takes some fiddling to find them again
The screensaver clock does look noddy

Summary
-------------------------
I really like Belle. Was thinking of getting a new phone (got my n8 on day 1), but not now. Belle feels like a new phone.

Enjoy!

Changed to Belle on my N8 a few days ago and generally found it an improvement on Anna except for one major problem. I downloaded Skype from OVI and it opens properly etc. but does not allow me to enter my password etc. and then reverts to the main screen. I am with Vodafone UK.  Any ideas?

Belle is - OK ish.
Screensaver clock does its purpose, saves power rather than process a complicated display.
Dont like the oversized HTC type digital clock (Sure someone will have other clock widgets soon)
Or the profile widget.
Much preferred the old multifunctional Clock/Calendar/Profile widget.
Profiles Widget is also ugly, asis calendar widget.
Also, Most of the Widgets are 1 1/2 Icons high, limiting manoeverability and number of icons on the screen.
Also HATE the default "conversations" view of new messages,  at least in Anna you could reset it to "Inbox"
For those that miss the "programs running" option, Long press the Hardware menu button and hey presto.
Much faster, dont notice any change in battery use, there again my phone charges every night, or while in car.
Some Apps that run in Anna dont in Belle.
Had to update previous data monitor widget to newer version.
DO NOT INSTALL PANORAMA APP, It installs OK, but when trying to run it, it doesnt do anything, till you go to use camera and - SYSTEM ERROR, - wont find camera !!!!.
Needs hard reset to fix.
Mods dont seem to work -
Music/Photo/Video galleries scan EVERY FOLDER, so now my homemade ringtones
appear in Music Albums, and any custom icon pics also show in galleries, as does
any  graphics installed andused by other apps :-( .
Play with radio shows NOKIA, Not Nokia N8.
Also, App wise, you can put Apps in folders, but only on 1 level - you cant have "folders within folders", and if you sort apps into an order within a folder, it sorts ALL folders in that order.
As for the 6 screens, This was possible on Anna (and previous) with a mod, so really didnt find that any more useful.
On the whole its ok, although the time weve waited, would really have expected a much better release.
What happened to their "resizeable" widgets ? there again, I suppose we should be used to Nokia not givng everything they say lol.

With Belle I got a new experience, it's like new phone, now indeed it is a smartphone.
The only cons is that some of apps are not working on Belle and if you paid for it, it leaves you a bitter taste, but all in all i am pretty happy  now with my N8, I was on a point almost to sell it and move to Android but  now I can say my phone is the best. Lets hope future updates will solve the not working apps issue.

thanks, I did this reset and the random freezing seems to have stopped. However I still have an issue where every time I try to play a video it shows a black screen with a url on it (I can hear the sound but no picture) this doesn't fix until I restart the phone.
