Hello friends

I recently purchased a Nokia N8.. I love my device, however, i noticed that  on certain pictures and even the Tron Legacy trailer, the dark and grey areas of the screen are purple and reddish. Further, the resolution in these areas look absolutely horrible... absoultely not what i expected from an amoled screen. Even the analog screensaver clock is half black and half purple. can anyone shed some light on this situation for me please?

Is it a firmware issue or a hardware issue?

Thank you in advance for your consideration on this matter.

Any advice you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.. especially considering amazon's 30 day return policy for electronics. Please...

It's possibly a driver issue which could be fixed in a future update, some HTC Desire users were also suffering from the same problem, note that the Desire also has an Amoled screen but after a firmware update to Froyo 2.2 the issue was fixed.
On a personal note I too had the problem with the Desire and it was fixed after updating to Froyo 2.2 but I have not got this problem on my N8, much like the Desire issue only some had the problem whilst others didn't.

Here's the thread from XDA, from page 56 where users were reporting it was fixed after the update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656128&page=56

Before I updated my phone firmware to 13.16, which was 11.12 at the time, I didn't have any problems with the screen. All black looked black, all grays looked gray. But after upgrading the firmware, I noticed some shadowing (or should I say pixellation) which is evident when I am watching videos. Also, the purple tint was now evident, although my clock is still black. I also noticed that the purple areas change to a browhish hue when the light sensor detects low light.

I also noticed another thing with the update, which I previously attributed to the Social app: the interface always has a delay with actions like tap. Like when I unlock the phone and then immediately tap any item on the screen, it won't register. Sometimes I have to hold my finger on it for up to 2 seconds before it registers a tap. The same holds true when I'm texting. It's kind of disturbing coz I'm tapping fast but it comes out two words late. I hope that the rumored 2.0 update fixes these issues.

It can only be a software error because there is a lot of gray colour in the task manager and it is fine and when you are looking at the clock which is half black and half purple you can notice that the unlock button is normally gray.
