Need some expert opinions... Trying to decide if I should buy a N8, get a newer phone without Xenon flash, or wait for a new phone to come out that has Xenon.

I love having a "real" camera with "real" flash on my phone (had a N82 and now a really dumb Pixon 12). But it does limit your choices, especially with 4g and OS selection.

I guess my biggest concern is: just how obsolete is Symbian? Is it as dead as the rest of the Internet would have you believe?

How often is it that you hear of an app on Android or iOS but you can't get it for your N8?

Anna looks like a huge upgrade, but I live in the US and it looks like we may not be getting Belle.

Thanks for your thoughts!

After doing the upgrade to Anna and the switch by Nokia to MS Mobile 7 OS, I would not buy a Nokia again. I think that the better choice in the long run would be a Samsung Gallaxy Nexus. Better OS (Android 4.0), bigger screen, Better phone all around. I am waiting for the phone to be available in Thailand, then I will dump my Nokia N8 and never look back.....

Before any of you react to whether you want to buy another phone or not, then you should first think back on what made you buy the n8 in the first place. If you wanted a camera on a phone that takes great pictures and the phone fails to deliver, then you can say that it didn't meet your expectations. The same is true for any other feature that you wanted. But if you compare the n8 to other phones and wish you had those features instead of the n8, then you should have waited for 10 years before buying a phone. There is a reason that you buy a particular phone. Not having features that you don't use anyway is not a reason for regrets. Just my opinion.

I think the best long term solution would be the Samsung Nexus Gallaxy. Best operating system (Android 4.0), big screen, the better the phone. I'm hoping that the phone is available in Thailand, so empty the Nokia N8, and never look back.

I can understand your worry about Symbian support in the future. All I can say is that my Vodafone contract is due for renewal but I will be staying with my N8. It has not given me any problems at all, I consider it an excellent phone.

The year 2016 is still a long way off to be saying that support for symbian will discontinue. The features of symbian still is way better than the current slew of android phones. The interface is the only difference but in terms of hardware requirements symbian still rules. Also, by the year 2016, you won't be using any of your current phones anyway. Chances are, whatever phone you're using right now will be replaced when that day comes.

Here's a fact about xenox on nokia n8. There's no way you can use it as a flash light.

And the camera isn't that great ether: 12mpxls wow, right? It's crap, only 25 fps (frames per second) AND you can shoot videos up to 720p (progressive scan).
While other phones on the market with only 8mpxls can shoot up to 1080p and 30 fps.
