I'm sorry, but that's the normal Nokia experience. The N8 battery is really crappy, it won't even get the phone through a normal working day. Or more likely the battery is perfectly OK (it's probably Japanese, not Finnish) and the N8 it's connected to is really crappy.

You should never have bought this phone. Do yourself a favour and take it back to the shop for a refund as soon as possible.

My Nokia Experience (TM) #3267 today: 3G, full bars, call; tick-tock, not possible; call; tick-tock, not possible; call; tick-tock, not possible; ... OK, this is not fun anymore, so: airplane mode on; airplane mode off; call; instant connection.

This dog of a phone should never even have been 3GPP or GCF certified, let alone sold to unsuspecting users. I hear the Samsung Galaxy 3 is out today, pretty much any half-way competent phone would shine beside a Nokia, but this one might finally put the nail in the Nokia coffin.

Nokia Experience (TM) #3268 today:  Call contact from phonebook; phone resets.

Nokia Experience (TM) #3269 today: Start an application (Whatsapp, Opera, Nimbuzz); wait a few hours; application crashes; no notification to user (so that message you were expecting went... well not to you, obviously).

This dog of a phone could not even have been GSMA certified, and most certainly should not have been sold to unsuspecting users. Goodbye to this bunch of Finnish hucksters.

BTW, why would you update to Belle? Haven't you seen all the unanswered pleas for help with Belle? You must have realized that Nokia couldn't give a damn, their Nokia Fake User Support (TM) can't come up with solutions even after 6 weeks of insistent complaints. And not just "this is a problem"-type complaints, these are "I haven't been able to use my phone"-type complaints.

I mean, was Symbian ^up yours 3 any good? Was Anna any better? Given the Nokia Experience (TM) to date, seriously, why would you expect Belle to be any better? Get real, go to the shop for a refund.

I managed to get the Nokia support forum shut down by calling out the clowns who couldn't be assed to respond to users' problems. Nokia has your money, they don't care already.

Nokia Experience (TM) #3358 today: (they accumulate, it's not possible to recount them all)... Write SMS; send SMS; leave phone on table assuming that SMS was sent or if not, maybe a warning tone or some notification would actually be made?; return 1hr later; SMS not sent; send SMS; nothing; send SMS; send the damn SMS; nothing; power off this dog of a phone; power on; send SMS; SMS sent, yo.

This pathetic dog of a phone would make any development team, other than a bunch of Finnish hucksters, hang its collective head in shame. Let me express it this way: the lack of design, development, testing, and in particular, customer support, that went into making this dog of a phone what it is (or, more aptly, is not) today is truly breath-takingly stunning: this phone is a slap in the face for its customers. Particularly the Nokia Fake User Support (TM) / support-blog is the icing on the cake, or in this case the kick in the balls, hey but I hear mob-sourcing is all the rage these days, it's sooo cheap you know, and the clueless Nokia Fake User Support (TM) fan-boys and girls manage to write some crap on average 3 minutes (*) after the customer has committed suicide because it's less painful than dealing with Nokia.

(*) 3 minutes unless the Nokia Fake User Support (TM) / support-blog fanboy has lucked a junket to a Nokia conference in London and left his account on auto-respond so the world can admire his ballsy cluelessness.

(**) these twats have the brass ones to accuse Apple of censoring Siri results "the best smartphone in the world"... what a load of crap. Hey, I vote Nokia the maker of the "best stupidphone in the world". Where can I get my votes counted? I can make a lot of them you know, at least one for each one of the $500 Nokia suckered me for with this dog of a phone.

(***) Nokia has such a bad reputation I understand the 5-letter word is simply replaced by "BANNED WORD" on several forums now.

Nokia Experience (TM) #3359: pick up dog of a phone with intention to check messages; release slider lock; switch orientation; black.... switch orientation again, toggle menu button, toggle power button; black, black, black.

Power off; power on; light.

This bunch of Finnish hucksters were really taking the piss when they unleashed this dog of a phone on their unsuspecting customers. Never again.

Nokia Experience (TM) #3360: check webmail on N8 stupidphone; copy phone number; switch to Telephone menu; ahaaa... paste? paste! want to paste the damn number!! into the call number field!!! duh...

The bunch of Finnish hucksters that sicked this dog of a phone on an unsuspecting world obviously never thought of something as simple as calling a number copied from a webmail. Jeez!! 5 years ago, in 2007, the iPhone could do this, even if it didn't officially have copy-paste functionality.
