I tried a few different converters and found that Pavtube offered a nice system but for the free version the watermark was in the middle of the screen.

I converted the entire series of Battlestar Galatcica S4 to watch on the plane (using a gorillapod mount) using Sothink Media Converter app:

https://www.sothinkmedia.com/blog/how-to-watch-everything-on-nokia-n8/

the free version also places a watermark on the output video but it is tiny and only appears in the corner about every 10 minutes for 10 seconds or so.

Sorry but what drugs are you people taking.

Firstly what are you trying to convert from?

Secondly the guy who said he used the gorillapod? am I correct in my thinking you actually used the N8 camera to record from your tv?

Thirdly and this is the biggie, why are you converting videos to watch on your N8. I have so far not found a file format it wont play. And if I did I would just download an avi version.

With my N97 converting things was an issue. You had to do it. But the N8 supports so many formats that I see no reason to ever convert anything for playback on my N8.

This includes a 7 gig mkv of Avatar which plays faultlessly.

Please stop fucking about and just put your vids on there.

maybe some people want to watch a film on their phone!
maybe some people want to watch something else when in bed if their partner is watching something they don't want to watch.
maybe some people want to watch something whilst travelling on a bus or a boat or a plane or a train or as a passenger in a car.
and when doing this they might want to put quite a few films on their phone and they might not want to take up loads of room with massive high def files
and as the playback on the screen is 640x360 it can sometimes (only sometimes but not never!) be a good idea to do some conversions.
and if the people asking the questions agree with any statement above and can be bothered and have the time AND WANT TO convert their videos then I don't see why not!?!?!

So lets stop bitching! Cheesy

Hey......why not try AVS video converter.  It is really good or you can try 'any video converter'.  The latter is quite good also but has the added benefit of being FREEEEEE! Wink

Sorry but what drugs are you people taking.
I don't do drugs. Booze, yes. but drugs, no.

Firstly what are you trying to convert from?
21 x 5gb HD mkv episodes of BSG.

Secondly the guy who said he used the gorillapod? am I correct in my thinking you actually used the N8 camera to record from your tv?
Nope. I used the gorillapod to mount the N8 at an ideal angle on my fold-out tray to watch BSG on the flight.

Thirdly and this is the biggie, why are you converting videos to watch on your N8. I have so far not found a file format it wont play. And if I did I would just download an avi version.
21x5gb sorta fills up your N8 wheras 21x700mb doesn't.
Smaller versions weren't available to download.
With my N97 converting things was an issue. You had to do it. But the N8 supports so many formats that I see no reason to ever convert anything for playback on my N8.
Apart from storage space.

Try 21 of those and see how much space you've got left over to take holiday videos and photo's.

Please stop fucking about and just put your vids on there.
Send me a 32GB memory card, Mr Spikey, and I'll let you know how it works out watching the uncompressed versions

Some very good points I will admit. However.

The only ones that have any merit at all are the ones concerning size. And I have the following solutions.

1. I am going to assume using torrents wouldnt be an issue for you. As a result I happen to know for a fact that BSG is widely available in high quality rips that run at 350 meg per standard 42 min ep.

2. I will admit this solution is rather more cumbersome, but if your going on holiday I cant see it being an issue. You do know that you can use USB sticks and even unpowered usb hard drives with the N8. Would give you all the space you would need.

Other than the size thing I still cant see any reason to convert anything to play on the N8 ever. Screen resolution is not a valid reason as still everything I have tried on it plays fine. And looks amazing.

And the people who told me off about that they may want to watch movies and things on the go. When the fuck did I ever imply this was a bad thing. My only argument was that the N8 plays damn near everything so converting videos to play on it was stupid.

I never said playing videos on it was stupid. In fact I use mine for this exact thing on a weekly basis every sunday morning when I have to wait for the bus and I go to Mac D's get breakfast and watch tv or a movie for an hour.

And while im ranting. Would everyone on this forum please for the love of all that is holy LEARN TO FUCKING SPEAK ENGLISH. It pains me to my very core to constantly have to read broken English on this site. Either do it properly or not at all.

since you have said that you need a Nokia video converter, I can recommend one to you.

Not long ago, when wandering in this forum I have seen the giveaway of the Nokia Video Converter Factory pro 3.0 and I have used it. I think it is a good video conversion tool for all of Nokia series besides Nokia N8. Although this giveaway has ended, I highly suggest this video converter to you!

You can try it and the url of this thread is: http://www.nokian8forum.com/nokia-n8-softwares/nokia-video-converter-factory-pro-3-0-free-license-save-$19-95/

Hope you will like what I said!

I always use Super from eRightSoft, works great and it's free.
Insert "Super erightsoft" in google and take the first hit.
The website kinda sucks and takes a few minutes to find de download link Tongue but the converter is great, can convert just about anything.
No fee, no trial, just a fully working vid/audio converter.
