I have seen that some people say that it is unnecessary for them to convert videos to N8, cuz they think N8 can support various video formats. However, there are still a lot of video formats that N8 can not support, such as flash videos(FLV and SWF), especially on YouTube website, MKV, RM, RMVB, DV video formats and so on. In addition to that, the most suitable video format for N8 is still MP4, thus if you want to get more compatible video format for your N8, you still need to convert other videos to MP4.

By the way, it is just my personal opinion.

It is not FLV but the MP4 or 3GP when the converting processes has ended.

 MKV is supported by the N8. MKV is just a container for MP4 + AC3 ( Sound Stream ) + Subtitles ( .srt saved as unicode ).

 Other settings to get it to work are-:

- scale size <= 720p

- CABAC reference frames <= 4 or CABAC off

- file size < 4GB (or you won't be able to copy it to FAT32 mass memory on your phone)

- framerate = 30 fps (NTFS.) Or 25fps ( PAL )
