Hello! I'm thinking about buying a Nokia N8 but I was wondering if the audio playback of the songs I'd put on there (songs purchased from Apple) sound as good as if they were on an iPod that will be replaced.

The audio specs for the N8 are:

Music codecs: .MP3, WMA, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB

The audio specs for an iPod Touch are:

Audio Formats: MP3/WAV/AAC/Audible/Apple Lossless/AIFF

I'm pretty sure that the bitrate for the N8 is 320 kbps. So I'm pretty sure the music will not sound any differently played through the phone than from the iPod for stuff like auxiliary ports in a car speaker. Just wanting a second opinion from you all! Thanks!

Alright thanks!! I'd also assume that the fm transmitter wouldn't always have the highest quality. USB or Auxiliary would be best.

ipod sound is maybe a little bit better if you have an ipod dock in your car...
While the quality of auxiliary will the same whether you're using the n8 or an ipod...

Just make sure the music purchased on iTune are not DRM protected, for you may not be able to play those songs on the N8.

To be honest, most higher end phones nowadays all sounds similar with a pair of proper headphones.  On the N8 you can tweak the sounds to your personal preference with the equalizer on the default music player.  I personally am using TTPod, where you can further tweak each frequency to your liking.
