I just wonder if anyone is planning on purchasing the Nokia Pureview 808.

One of the things that has me extremely thinking about it is the fact that
they have included the UPnP feature back in the pureview and the fact
that it has a removable battery option.

These were too options I feel I lost when I upgraded from the nokia N95 to
the N8.

I will admit though that what has me somewhat bother is the fact that the case
of the Pureview is back to being less durable it seems.  The N8 feels like steel.

The DNLA player on the N8 is nice but its no comparison to the N95 UPnP feature.

Thoughts.....

If Symbian still had a hope of future support with cool apps from 3rd-party or even Nokia, I'd be on it in a heartbeat.  But you know Nokia will be aiming all its resources at Windows Phone.  And while they may promise future support for Symbian, I'm sure they mean OS-based bug fixes and maybe one or two more upgrades, but no cool apps like Big Screen or Sleeping Screen anymore.  Not to mention third-party app makers already saying "Symbian who?"

I fear the 808 will go down the same path as the N9, one of the most beautiful phones you'll never buy.

I'm writing this from my new 808. I got the n8 on day one and loved it. The 808 is in virtually every way an update to the n8.  I won't bother discussing the camera, as everybody has heard of it Smiley  The cpu/gpu is much faster than the n8, and the screen is brilliant. It has the same peripherals, with the addition of nfc. It lacks the 'solidity' of the aluminium case, however it feels very sturdy. Its a lot thinner than I thought it would be,  in fact its nice to hold. I never thought I would get rid of my n8, but I won't be looking back now. I would recommend that anyone that loves their n8, but is looking to upgrade, get the 808. I's everything the n8 was, is, and should have been.

Symbian may not be dead yet but i'm definitely replacing my N8 with something else. My N8 would have been perfect for a casual user like me and I never really thought of replacing it (at least for several years to come) until I realized recently that there are things that I can do with my N8 that I can do better with other phones. Here are a few reasons:

1. Nokia is trying to solve the problem of innovating instead of implementing first the features that are already basic and built-in to other phones (e.g., Samsung galaxy's call reject, iphone's findmyiphone, built-in hotspot for both iphone and android, etc.). And so they end up with a product that is innovative but with so many drawbacks.. e.g., the 808 pureview camera would have been really innovative had they not made it as fat as the wall charger.

2. Nokia wouldn't put the highest available hardware specs in their flagship phone which is against the trend so people would always compare their nokia phones with other flagship phones and get disappointed in the process.
Some would argue that nokia's low specs hardware can cope up in combination with an optimized OS, but that is not really going to help persuade those buyers. If there is a phone with a quad core processor and they stick it with a huge battery, then Nokia's battery advantage due to lower spec hardware is already gone.

3. Nokia as a company has lost its reliability (losing money constantly), so would you buy a product made by a company that is not being managed properly?
